How to Remove a Virus Response Lab for Free

Virus Response Lab 2009 is a fake anti-spy ware software. It is installed on your computer without your knowledge and then brings up pop-ups warning you that your computer is infected with spy ware and offers a free scan. Of course, the Virus Response Lab scan finds a few viruses and asks you to purchase it so that the viruses can be removed from your system. It can be easily removed for free by following the steps below.

Instructions

    Ending the Virus Response Lab Processes.

  1. Step 1

    Press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Esc" at the same time. This will bring up the Task Manager.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the "Processes" tab and locate "VirusResponseLab2009.exe" process.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the process to highlight it.
    Click "End" at the bottom of the Task Manager.

  4. Unregistering Virus Response Lab .dll File

  5. Step 1

    Go to "Start" menu.

  6. Step 2

    Click "Run".

  7. Step 3

    Type "cmd" and then click "OK". This action will bring up a command line window.

  8. Step 4

    Type "regsvr32 / AVLWarning.dll" and press "Enter" on your keyboard. This action will unregister the spyware's .dll file.

  9. Deleting Virus Response Lab 2009

  10. Step 1

    Go to "Start" menu.

  11. Step 2

    Click on "Search." This action will bring up the "Search" window.

  12. Step 3

    Click "For Files and Folders."

  13. Step 4

    Click "All Files and Folders."

  14. Step 5

    In the search line, type "VirusResponse Lab 2009 2.1.lnk" and click "Search." This action will locate the file on your system and will display it in the window.

  15. Step 6

    Click on the file to highlight it and then press "Delete" on your keyboard.

  16. Step 7

    Repeat Step 1 through Step 6 to find and delete these files:
    AVLWarning.dll
    VirusResponseLab2009.exe
    c:\Program Files\VirusResponseLab2009
    c:\Program Files\VirusResponseLab2009\VirusResponseLab2009.exe
    c:\Program Files\VirusResponseLab2009\AVLWarning.dll
    c:\Program Files\VirusResponseLab2009\uninst.exe
    c:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator\Desktop\VirusResponse Lab 2009.lnk
    c:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator\Start Menu\VirusResponse Lab 2009.lnk
    c:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator\Start Menu\Programs\VirusResponse Lab 2009
    c:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator\Start Menu\Programs\VirusResponse Lab 2009 2.1\VirusResponse Lab 2009.lnk

  17. Deleting the Virus Response Lab Registry Values

  18. Step 1

    Go to "Start" menu.

  19. Step 2

    Click "Run."

  20. Step 3

    Type "regedit" and then click "OK." This action will open the "Registry Editor."

  21. Step 4

    Locate and delete the following subkeys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VirusResponseLab2009
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AVLWarning.WarningBHO.1
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AVLWarning.WarningBHO

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{9692BE2F-EB8F-49D9-A11C-C24C1EF734D5}

    Restart your computer.
