Decorations can add a touch of elegance to the buffet table.

Having a buffet-style reception is a great way to serve food at your wedding. It is not as restrictive as a sit-down meal, and the guests feel engaged when they have to move around to feed themselves. A truly beautiful buffet table will impress the guests and add elegance to the overall decorations.

Instructions

    • 1

Start with a tablecloth. Choose one of your event colors or a plain white table cloth. Find a material that is easy to wipe off in case of spills.

    • 2

Embellish the table with a large bow in the middle and little bows on each corner. This will help keep the decorative atmosphere of the whole room. Choose colors that coordinate with the event.

    • 3

Add the centerpiece. Fruit centerpieces add color and appeal to a reception. You can also use flowers or any other type of items for a beautiful centerpiece. Choose the centerpiece's size based on the size of the table and the amount of food that has to go on it. Add a fountain or ice sculpture for a touch of elegance.

Use tray stands to elevate the food. You want the food to be raised up a bit from the table. You can even make a spiral staircase effect by using books with napkins wrapped around them. This adds aesthetic appeal to the set up of the table.

Add garnish to the food trays. Use greenery or fruit to garnish each tray for a bit of festive color. Fresh flowers are also a nice touch.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not place two trays of the same food item by each other. Have the food items mirror each other by placing a tray on each side of the centerpiece.

  • Place plates, napkins and utensils on the left side of the table in the front corner.

  • Have drinks on a separate table than the food. This will cut down the amount of spills while guests are trying to fix their plates.

  • Having the table against a wall is a good place to have it. Having it in the middle of the floor is a better placement. This way it is the centerpiece of the entire room.

  • Sprinkles of confetti or rose petals add extra color and decoration to the table. Sprinkle it on lightly before placing the food.

  • Using candles as a centerpiece is great for weddings that are held at night.

  • Dark colored table clothes can be used to conceal stains.
