How to Clean Fake Trees

Artificial trees are often so realistic-looking that you need to come very close to tell they are not real. Fake trees and other plants can add character to your home and are ideal for people with allergies. Though you do not have to water fake trees, they do need to be cleaned periodically. Keep your artificial trees clean and dust-free is easy.

Things You'll Need

  • Dust cloth Spray bottle Water White vinegar Garden hose Cleaning eraser
  • Dust the leaves of your fake tree with a dust cloth, a microfiber cloth or a duster to gently remove fluff and other debris. Dust every couple of weeks to avoid heavy buildup of dirt.

  • Spray water onto your fake tree to get off dirt that does not come off with a dry cloth. A half-and-half mixture of water and white vinegar may help remove stubborn stains. Wipe the moistened dirt off with a cloth.

  • If the tree is very dirty, hose it down in the shower or in your driveway with a garden hose. Allow it to air dry in a well-ventilated area.

  • Remove scuff marks from your fake tree with a microporous cleaning eraser.
