How to Make Cheap Cat Toys

You have cats, and you love them, but every so often you just want them to leave you alone. They chase you down for attention, nip at your fingers when they want to be petted or play, and can't understand why you're not up when they are. Here are some easy toys you can make to distract your cat long enough for you to have some peace and quiet.

Instructions

  1. Tassels

    • 1

Take roll of ribbon and cut off three strips, 5 to 6 feet long.

    • 2

Tie one end of each ribbon to a doorknob, hanging bar (for this, use strips 7 to 8 feet long) or anything else that's sturdy, and wont move when yanked on.

    • 3

Dangle the ribbons in front of your cat's face when he passes by, so he understands they're toys. Attach the ribbons to as many places as you want.

    Bottle Caps

    • 4

Take a few plastic soda bottles, and remove the caps.

    • 5

Toss them on the ground in front of your cat.

    • 6

Try other items, such as candy wrappers or old toilet paper rolls. Anything that rolls or moves across the floor will work.

    Catnip Socks

    • 7

Take 2 or 3 ounces of catnip and put it into a sock. You can buy catnip at a pet store.

    • 8

Tie a knot in the open end of the sock.

    • 9

Remove the old catnip and put in new catnip every few weeks to keep it fresh.
