How to Make Baby Bows
Whether your baby girl has thin, fine hair or a cluster of curls, make her look even cuter with a bow that matches her outfit. Making your own baby bows is not as hard as it looks, and you'll save plenty of money by purchasing the materials at a craft or fabric store. Since baby hair is so fine, most barrettes, clips and combs won't stay in. Using Velcro as the base for the baby hair bow allows the accessory to stay firmly in place. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 12 inches of ribbon (about 1/4 inch wide) 1-inch Velcro (about 1/4-inch wide) Needle and thread Fabric glue Scissors Embellishments (optional)

1
Sew one end of the Velcro square together. Velcro comes in a top part (prickly) and a bottom part (fuzzy), so you are sewing one edge of these pieces together.
-
2
Tie the ribbon into a bow. You can make a nice bow by following the same method as tying your shoes. Adjust the loops and lengths until you get the size and shape of bow you desire.

3
Place the ribbon onto the Velcro piece to ensure it is the size you want. Trim any excess ribbon so the ends are symmetrical.
-
4
Attach the bow to the center of the Velcro; you can use fabric glue to secure the bow. Make a small stitch or two through the center of the bow to the top half of the Velcro. Be sure not to stitch all the way through the two Velcro halves or you won't be able to put the hair bow in the baby's hair.

5
Attach an embellishment to the center of the bow. Some ideas for embellishments are small silk flowers, a fabric jewel or a whimsically shaped button. Attach the embellishment securely with fabric glue.
-
6
Let the glue dry completely then test to make sure the embellishment will not come off easily. If the embellishment is loose or unsecured, it could become a choking hazard.
