Decorating gifts or crafts with ribbons and bows adds a personal touch. Making the bows yourself saves money and allows you to customize the color and size to fit your project. Whether you are looking to make a single or double bow, the procedure is the same. By making a standard form to create bows, you will be able to adjust to single, double or fuller bows without changing the form.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scrap lumber 4-inch nails Ribbon Scissors
  1. Step 1

Cut a 12-inch section from a 2-by-4 or scrap lumber for your base. Determine the width of the desired bow and insert two nails into the wood at this distance. If preferred, you could use floral foam and dowels to create the form, but it will not last as long.

  2. Step 2

Wrap the ribbon around both nails. You will need two complete revolutions to create a double bow with two loops on each side.

  3. Step 3

Locate the center point between the two nails and tie with a short section of ribbon. Slip the ribbons off the nails and fluff the bow with your hands. Cut ends on an angle at the desired length.

Tips & Warnings
  • Create fuller bows by wrapping the ribbon around the nails as many times as desired. Alter the size of the bows by changing the position of the nails.
