How to Make Chocolate Cups

  • 1 lb. semi-sweet chocolate morsels 1 Tbsp. shortening Microwavable bowl 16 paper cupcake holders Cupcake tins Pastry brush

Instructions

      Put the chocolate and the shortening into the bowl. Microwave the bowl on high for 1 minute and stir.

      Heat on high for 30 more seconds and stir. Repeat this step until a smooth, easily stirrable mixture forms.

      Place the cupcake holders into the tins.

      Pour small amounts of the liquid chocolate into the holders. Use the pastry brush to brush the chocolate up the sides of the holders.

      Refrigerate the tins for at least 25 minutes so that the chocolate cups can harden.

      Fill cups with any cold dessert item you desire, such as ice cream, mousse, or pudding.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use white or colored chocolate as well to create cups in a variety of colors. If you are making a lot of these cups, take only a few out of the refrigerator at a time to fill them. If you leave them out for too long, the chocolate might start to melt.

  • Try not to touch the chocolate directly with your fingertips, as the heat from your fingers may cause the chocolate to melt.
