Most women have a deep love for makeup, but many of them don't know how to properly apply their makeup or are confused about the right shades to use. If you want to avoid a mask-like appearance, always choose a foundation that is yellow based. Many women have honey-colored undertones to their skin, regardless of their skin color. A yellow-based foundation will give you a flawless and natural look because it blends with your skin undertones. Always find makeup shades that complement your undertones. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and apply moisturizer to prepare your skin for makeup.

    • 2

Dab a yellow-based concealer on imperfections such as tiny red veins, redness around the nose, under-eye circles, pimples, wrinkles and crow's feet.

    • 3

Apply dots of foundation to your forehead, cheekbones, chin, nose, lips and underneath your eyes. Start at your forehead and blend the dots of foundation together using a circular motion. Use a makeup sponge or your fingers to gently blend the foundation using upward motions into the hairline and jawline. Blend until your skin is evenly covered and you have a smooth complexion. Lightly brush translucent loose powder to set your foundation.

    • 4

Cover your entire eyelid with an eye shadow primer. A primer will help your eye makeup last longer. Apply a light-tone eye shadow as a base.

    • 5

Apply a medium-tone eye shadow into the crease of the eyelid. Sweep the color from the inner corner to the outer corner of your eye. Blend it with the eye shadow brush until the eye shadow extends slightly past the crease.

    • 6

Apply a dark-tone eye shadow in a V-shape at the outside corner of your eyes. If you extend this eye shadow slightly past your eye, you will create an alluring, cat-eye look. Blend this dark color into the rest of your eye shadow.

    • 7

Use eyeliner to create a line near your upper lash line. Draw the line so that it gets thicker when it reaches the middle, and tilt it up slightly when you reach the outer corner of your eye. Or dip the tip of your eye shadow brush into a droplet of water. Apply wet eye shadow near your upper lash line and bottom lash line for an intense shade of color. Blend well and gently smudge the color with a cotton swab. If you desire, highlight your brow bone with a shimmery eye shadow.

    • 8

Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler. Apply two coats of mascara to your top and bottom lashes.

    • 9

Create dots around your lips with a neutral-colored lip pencil. Begin at the center of your lips and continue to draw outward. Use a lipstick brush to apply your lipstick to ensure an even application of color. Use a shiny lip gloss if you want to draw attention to your lips. Blot your lips with a tissue to remove any excess lipstick.

    • 10

Use a high-quality brush to dust blush on the apples of your cheeks. Use short vertical strokes starting from your cheekbone outward toward your hairline. Use horizontal strokes with a fluffy blush brush to create a gorgeous and natural-looking flush to your skin. Blend the blush into your foundation.

Tips & Warnings

  • Practice creating different looks with your makeup palette. Light, nude and earth shades work well for daytime and will give you a polished yet pretty look. Be daring at nighttime with bold and dramatic makeup. Use nude or pale lips if you are wearing bold eye shadow.
