How to Install Outdoor Flood Lights

Installing your outdoor flood lights is a task that can be completed in less then an hour. They are essential for outdoor security at night time or for those dark areas that you need light in when outside. Whether you are replacing your old set, or putting in a new set, outdoor flood lights will provide a touch of elegance to the outside of your home and also the peace of mind to see in the dark spots at night.

Things You'll Need

• Flat and Phillips screwdriver Wire cutter and stripper Plasti-caps Caulking and caulking gun

Instructions

1. Turn off the main power.

2. Unscrew the old lights and pull towards you, un-attach the old wires. If this is a new set that you are installing strip the wires about an inch.

3. Twist together the wires with your new fixture. White wire to white wire, and black wire to black wire. The solid copper wire will screw to the housing of the light. Cap off the connections with plasti-caps.

4. Screw your new fixture halfway on to the conduit box by turning the two screws clockwise that are on the base of the fixture. You need to keep a space between the light and mounting surface so that you can caulk the space in the next step to create a watertight seal.

5. Caulk where the light will mount and then screw the light in the rest of the way. Clean up any excess caulking. Turn back on the electricity. Your light is now ready for use.
