How to Apply Tyra Banks Makeup

Tyra Banks has accomplished many things in her lifetime, including a successful modeling career, hosting her own talk show and producing and hosting her own reality series, "America's Next Top Model." Whether Tyra is running errands around town or strolling down the red carpet, she always looks glamorous. Despite her knockout body, Tyra differs from many of the popular waif-like models and has received criticism for her curves. As a result, she encourages women everywhere to be proud of their bodies. With a little bit of effort, the right products and the correct techniques, you can mirror Tyra's fierce makeup style.

How to Apply Tyra Banks's Makeup

1. Prep your skin. Prior to putting on makeup, it is important to properly prep your skin. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and towel dry it. Since Tyra has dry skin, she likes to use products that are moisturizing such as Aveeno Moisturizing Bar. Soak a cotton ball with toner and apply the toner to your face. Finish up by applying your favorite moisturizer. Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before continuing to the next step.

2. Apply foundation. Applying foundation will help you create the perfect canvas for your Tyra inspired makeup. Since Tyra has dry skin, she likes to use cream or stick foundations. She swears by Bobbi Brown's Stick Foundation. Dot the foundation onto your forehead, nose, chin and cheeks. Use your fingers, a foundation brush or a damp sponge to blend the makeup into your skin. Make sure the product is evenly applied to avoid any streaks.

3. Conceal any imperfections. Tyra isn't afraid to acknowledge her imperfections and openly admits she must use concealer under her eyes to cover up her dark circles. You can use concealer to cover up blemishes or under eye circles. Tyra likes to use cream concealers because of their moisturizing properties. Dot the concealer under your eyes and onto any blemishes. Use your ring finger to blend the concealer into your skin. Follow up with a light coat of face powder.

4. Get the glow. Whenever your see Tyra, her cheekbones always stand out. She loves to use blush to accentuate them and make them pop. Choose a blush that flatters your skin tone. Tyra likes to use pink and berry colors. Look into the mirror and smile. This helps you locate the apples of your cheeks. Load blush onto your blush brush and apply the product to the apples of your cheeks.

5. Create the eyes. Tyra is a fan of fierce eye makeup and loves to play up her eyes. Apply a layer of neutral brown eyeshadow over your eyelid. This color shouldn't be more then two shades darker then your skin tone. Choose a dark eyeshadow color and apply it to the crease of your eyelid. Blend the two colors together with an eyeshadow blending brush. Apply a matte light color to your brow bone as a highlighter. Once your shadow is complete, line your top and bottom eyelids with eyeliner. Tyra loves to use white eyeliner to give tired eyes a more awake look. She applies the white liner to her waterline to brighten up her eyes. Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler and follow up with a coat of volumizing and lengthening mascara such as Cover Girl's Lash Blast. Finish up by applying a second coat to make your lashes more dramatic.

6. Finish it all up. Once your eye makeup is complete, your Tyra inspired makeup is almost done. Since Tyra enjoys playing up her eyes, she likes to subtly define her full lips. Line your lips with a neutral lip liner that resembles the color of your lips. Tyra is a fan of Bobbi Brown's lip glosses. Choose a natural looking lip gloss that has some shimmer in it and apply it to your lips. Rub your lips together.

Tips & Warnings

• For a more dramatic nighttime look, apply false eyelashes to play up your eyes. Choose lashes that have length and volume but still look natural. Tyra loves to use Vaseline to moisturize her under-eye area. She applies the Vaseline at night and wakes up to moisturized eyes. She says she learned it from her mom who has done it for years.
