How to Install a Wireless Router to Cable

A wireless router gives you the freedom to access your Internet connection or other computers on your network with your wireless computer from any location within range. Connecting a wireless router to cable Internet access is an easy process than can be accomplished in about 10 minutes, allowing you to work outside of your office.

Things You'll Need

• Cable modem Wireless router Wireless router driver CD Ethernet cable

Instructions

1. Install the drivers needed for your wireless connection by running the Setup program on the CD that came with the wireless router.

2. Shut down the wireless computer.

3. Plug the wireless router into a power supply.

4. Connect the modem to the router with the Ethernet cable.

5. Turn on the wireless computer and connect to your network.

Tips & Warnings

• If the wireless computer is the only computer in your network, you may need to connect the computer to the router with a second Ethernet cable to make the first connection.

• Wireless connections can be intercepted. You may want to take steps to prevent interception of transmissions.
