When summer approaches the ladies get out their flip-flops and show off their toes. It is much more attractive if those toes have painted toe nails. The good news is that it is very easy to apply nail polish to your toes at home all by yourself. If you like, you can even have a friend over and do each others' toe nails.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Toe separator Nail file Acetone remover Nail polish Quick drying clear coat
  1. Step 1

Place a toe separator on each foot. This will keep from accidentally getting nail polish on the toes next to each other.

  2. Step 2

File your toenails before you paint them. If you file them afterward, you may remove or damage some of the paint.

  3. Step 3

Use an acetone remover to get rid of any oil that may be on your toenails. Acetone remover only costs $2 per bottle and it can be used many times before it runs out.

  4. Step 4

Choose your nail polish color. This can be based on the outfit you plan on wearing the next day. It can also be the color that matches your fingernails. Make sure that the color you choose reflects part of your personality. If you are not a dramatic person, don't pick a dramatic color like hot pink.

  5. Step 5

Paint three strokes on each toenail. Begin at the base of the cuticle and work outward. Start with a strip down the middle and then do one on each side. Give the toes time to dry.

  6. Step 6

Apply a second coat the same way you did the first. Start at the base of the toenail near the cuticle and paint straight out. Then do one stroke on each side. Allow time for the toes to dry.

  7. Step 7

Apply a quick drying clear coat. This coat serves to protect and preserve the nail polish.

  8. Step 8

Wait half an hour before putting your flip-flops or other footwear on.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't have a toe separator, you can use cotton balls in between each toe.
  • Use nail polish remover and a Q-tip if you make a mistake.
