Pleated window blinds both provide a level of privacy to your home and add a decorative touch. Cleaning pleated window blinds and shades can take some time due to the numerous slats to clean, but it is not difficult at all. This article will give you tips on how to clean pleated window blinds.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vacuum cleaner Soft paint brush Microfiber cloths Damp soft cloth
  1. Step 1

Vacuum your window blinds with the brush attachment that comes with your vacuum cleaner. If your brush attachment is too large for the slats, gently brush the dust off with a soft-bristled paint brush.

  2. Step 2

Run a disposable microfiber cloth along each slat if you do not have a vacuum cleaner or prefer to clean the window treatments by hand. Dust and other debris will be trapped in the textured cloth and will not be brushed onto the slats below, as can happen with a smooth cloth.

  3. Step 3

Clean stubborn or sticky grime from aluminum or vinyl pleated window blinds with a damp, soft cloth. Work the cloth on the slats gently, being careful not to break them. This method is not advised for wooden blinds, as the water could damage the finish.
