Instructions

  1. Sew Rod Pocket Curtains

    • 1

Measure the width of the window. Multiply the width measurement by two.

    • 2

Measure the length of the window. Add 7 inches to the length measurement.

    • 3

Choose and purchase your curtain fabric.

    • 4

Cut the fabric according to the measurements taken in Step 1 and Step 2. This creates two curtain panels. The panels should be the length measurement and half of the width measurement of the window.

    • 5

Place the panels on a flat work surface. Fold 1 inch under on all four sides of each panel. Press well. Fold under one inch again and press well again. Pin the folds to secure them.

    • 6

Stitch the two long sides and the bottom side of each panel. Stitch 1/2 inch from the folded edges. Press well again after stitching.

    • 7

Fold the top edge down another 3 inches on both panels. Press and pin to secure this fold.

    • 8

Stitch a line halfway between the 3-inch fold. You will now have 1 1/2 inches of fold on either side of the stitching line. Stitch another line 1 inch from the top of the curtain panel to create the rod pocket.

    • 9

Place the curtain rods through the rod pockets of the curtains and hang them.
