    Things You'll Need

    • Clear glass jar with lid
    • Waterproof decoration or ornament
    • Waterproof glue or aquarium sealant
    • Distilled water
    • Craft "snow"
    • Glitter
      • 1

Clean and dry a clear glass jar. Any glass jar will work--baby food, pasta sauce or even a mason jar.

      • 2

Use a strong, waterproof adhesive to attach the ornament to the center of the jar lid. Before attaching, you may paint the lid with a waterproof paint. Set aside to dry according to the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.

      • 3

Fill the jar 2/3 full with distilled water. Distilled water will inhibit growth of algae or bacteria. Boil tap water and cool if distilled water is unavailable.

      • 4

Place 1 tbsp. of "snow" in the water. The snow may be purchased from craft stores. Add 1/2 tsp. of your preferred color of glitter.

      • 5

Place waterproof adhesive around the threads of the jar and inside the lid on its threads. Twist on tightly. Allow to dry at least 12 hours before shaking and standing the snow globe on its lid.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Aquarium sealant works well for the snow globe adhesive.

    • Solid plastic ornaments are the best-looking and attach well.

    • Tiny plastic beads can be substituted for the plastic snow sold at craft stores.

    • Try mixing glitter colors for interesting effects.

    • Use all adhesives in a well-ventilated area.

    • Do not allow children to use aquarium sealant.
