If you love the rockabilly looks of the 1950's--and want a fun and interesting new up do--take a look at this. You will learn the tricks and techniques to create a gorgeous "greaser look" without being too greasy! The look is chic and sleek with a bit of edge. Creating a greaser style is quite a bit easier than you would think.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comb Round brush Hair gel Hair pomade Hair spray Blow dryer Bobby pins
  1. Step 1

Step out of the shower. Towel dry your hair. Squeeze a silver dollar size amount of gel into your hand; rub the gel into your slightly wet hair. Blow dry your hair with a round brush. As you blow dry your hair, turn your head upside down. Dry your hair from the roots to the tips. This will add the extra volume and sheen required for this look.

  2. Step 2

Begin to tease the front part of your hair at your crown--now that is completely dry--in order to create the height wanted for the greaser look. This is what will give you the greaser "Elvis" style look you are searching for, but it will also possess a feminine appeal. Once your hair is at the height you want it to be, secure the height with bobby pins at the crown of your hair. You can do this by sticking the pins in from the back towards the front of the head. Now, spray the hair with hairspray to keep it place.

  3. Step 3

Add a dime-sized amount of shine-enhancing pomade to the rest of your hair. This will give a greasy texture to your hair. Slick back the sides of your hair tightly to almost create a buzz haircut look. Create a duck tail look by combing the hair straight back. Curve the ends outward. You can set the look by spraying with extra hold hairspray.

  4. Step 4

Use the rest of your bobby pins to keep the look in place if you have longer hair. Begin by combing the sides of your hair back. Create a very tight French twist, pulling the hair up towards the teased crown and folding it in on itself. Pin the style by sticking bobby pins into the side of the twist to secure it. Finish with hairspray all over.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be very careful when spraying hairspray. Keep it away from flames as well as children. Keep it out of the eyes since it can cause damage or irritation.
