Remove Hot Glue

When a hobby involves using hot glue on a regular basis, a meeting between the glue and an article of clothing is inevitable. But thankfully, there is a simple way to remove the glue.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hot iron Ironing board Cotton rag

    Getting The Glue Out

  1. Step 1

Spread the cotton rag over the ironing board.

  2. Step 2

Place the piece of clothing on top of the cotton rag, with the glue spot touching the rag.

  3. Step 3

Put the iron on the glue spot and press down for 15 seconds.

  4. Step 4

Take the article of clothing off of the rag. Fold the cotton rag in half so any glue that transferred from the clothing to the rag is not exposed.

  5. Step 5

Again, place the clothing on top of the rag with the glue spot touching the rag. Iron the glue spot for 15 seconds.

  6. Step 6

Remove the item of clothing from the rag. The glue should have transferred from the clothing to the rag.

Tips & Warnings
  • Any craft project that requires paint or glue is best done in a smock or in old clothes. The process of putting the piece of clothing on top of the rag and ironing for 15 seconds can be repeated as many times as necessary, or as many times as the clothing will allow without burning.
  • Others have suggested using nail polish remover with acetone in it, but the chemicals can leave a big bleach spot on your clothes. This is not a recommended technique.
