How to Wire for Dry Loop DSL

Dry loop DSL has its own dedicated wire for service. Wiring is very straightforward and easy. You will be wiring the DSL to a phone jack in the room where your DSL modem is. It is the same procedure as wiring a phone, with the difference being the line into which you are wiring. Following these steps will ensure a successful wiring of your dry loop DSL.

      Go to your demarcation point outside. This is the phone box. Once the company has wired the DSL to your home, this might be in a different box, or in the same box as your phone.

      Open the box on the consumer side. Usually this is screwed shut with one screw.

      Wire the red and green wires on your new phone wire to the DSL wires inside the box. The company that installed your DSL to this point should have shown you which set of screws is the DSL.

      Run your phone wire into the room where your DSL modem is. You may need to drill holes to bring the wire in.

      Wire the red and green wires to a dedicated phone jack. Your dry loop DSL is now inside the home and ready for use by the modem.
