Things You'll Need:
- Two-gallon bucket Three lint-free cloths Oil-free auto shampoo Soft-bristled toothbrush Vinyl protectant Water
-
Step 1
Fill a two-gallon bucket with lukewarm water from the hose. Dip your lint-free cloth in the bucket so that it is completely saturated. Check that the vinyl top is up all the way and there are no breaks in the seam with the rest of the car. Then use your cloth to wet the entire top. It's okay if it's dripping.
-
Step 2
Pour two capfuls of the auto shampoo into the bucket and stir it into the water with your hands. Dip the cloth in the bucket again, picking up some of the lather this time. If your cloth got really dirty just from wetting the top, use a new one for this step. Rub the soap on the vinyl top in a circular motion. Dip the cloth back in the soap mixture as needed until you've washed the entire thing.
-
Step 3
Scour any trouble spots such as road salt or bird droppings with a soft-bristled toothbrush after letting the shampoo set on the stain for five to 10 minutes. Once you've gotten all of the dirt and debris off, dump out your bucket and refill it with cold water. Then pour it over the vinyl top to rinse off the soap, refilling the bucket as needed.
-
Step 4
Dry the vinyl with another lint-free cloth. Always blot instead of wiping. Once it's dry, spray the entire top with a vinyl protectant, being careful not to get the spray on the metal parts of your Dodge. (If you do, wipe it off immediately.) Let the protectant air dry.
