How to Make Your Own Gag Gift

Gag gifts are traditionally given in the spirit of making somebody laugh, which the recipient of these silly slippers is sure to do. This gag gift is very funny, but it's functional, too. These easy to make slippers are soft, sanitary and disposable, and feature non-slip soles. Make these to give to a friend or family member who is confined to a hospital or recovering at home from an illness. You'll make someone laugh, and your gag gift will still be around long after expensive flowers would have faded and died.

Things You'll Need

• 4 maxi pads Craft glue or Scotch tape 4 tampons

Instructions

1. Remove the packages from four maxi pads. You'll be using two for each of the slippers. Unfold each of them, and leave the protective paper strips on the backs of the pads.

2. Set one of the maxi pads on a flat working surface, right side up. This will become the sole of one of the slippers.

3. Flip a second unfolded maxi pad face down, with the paper strip facing upward. Wrap this pad around one end of the sole pad, forming an open-toed upper portion for the slipper. It will look like a tunnel, and will be a soft cuddly place for the recipient to tuck toes into. Glue or tape each of the ends of the wrapped pad to the bottom of the sole. Repeat this step for the other slipper.

4. Unwrap four tampons, two for each slipper. Remove the protective tubes covering them, or you can leave them in place and let the recipient of the gag gift remove them upon receipt of the gift.

5. Make a knot in the ends of the strings of two of the tampons to tie them together. Thread one of the tampons through the tunnel formed by the slipper's upper portion, and tie the two tampons together on top. Now the slipper has tassels. Do the same for the other slipper.

Tips & Warnings

• Ask the recipient of your gag gift to take the paper strips off of the bottoms of the slippers. The soles will then become non-slip.
