      Locate your bathroom exhaust pipe either in the attic or, for a two-story home, in the wall. For a two-story home, you should have access to the piping from the fan piping through an access door.

      Turn on the exhaust fan and follow the pipe with your hand feeling for any air leaks.

      Repair the leak, once located, with mastic tape and then paint mastic over this to ensure an airtight seal.

      Test it for leaks once dry to ensure that it is sealed. You fan is now ready for use.
