How to Make a Poncho With a Loom
Ponchos make a great cloak for you when it is chilly out. They slip over your head and drape over you. You can create a poncho by using a loom.
Things You'll Need
- 36 peg rectangular loom 16 ounces of yarn Size G or H crochet hook Yarn needle
Instructions

1
Begin by casting the yarn around the pegs. Use peg one and wrap the yarn around the peg one time in a circle, forming a cursive letter 'e.'
-
2
Move clockwise around the loom, but ensure that you wrap the yarn counterclockwise.
-
-
3
Move to the next peg until you have a cursive 'e' on each peg.
-
4
Repeat the wrapping process so that every peg will have two strands of yarn on it.
-
5
Knit the first row by taking the loom pick under the bottom loop of yarn and pulling it over the top of the peg.
-
6
Move in a clockwise pattern around the ring.
-
7
Repeat Steps 5 and 6 at every peg until each peg has only one strand of yarn on it.
-
8
Wrap each peg with the yarn.
-
9
Repeat Step 4.
-
10
Repeat Steps 4, 5, 6, and 7 until you have the desired length you want. This will be roughly 110 rows.
-
11
Bind off beginning with peg 1.
-
12
Pull up the loop with the crochet hook.
-
13
Place the loop from the next peg onto the crochet hook.
-
14
Wrap yarn from the skein over the top of the hook to create a third loop that is in front of the first two loops.
-
15
Pull the yarn through both of the loops on the hook.
-
16
This will leave a single loop on the hook.
-
17
Repeat this process until you have reached the last loop.
-
18
When you are at the last loop, you will need to cut 9 inches of yarn from the skein and pull it completely through the remaining loop.
-
19
Weave the remaining amount of yarn into the panel.
-
20
Turn one panel 180 degrees.
-
21
Use the yarn needle and connect the two panels at the shoulder.
-
22
Leave an opening for the head.
-
23
Using the same yarn you have been using, add fringe to the bottom.
-
24
See if it fits.
