How to Get Melted ChapStick Out of Clothes
There are moments when we forget about the ChapStick we tucked away in our shirt or pants pocket. In the summer sun or perhaps in the dryer, ChapStick can melt and leave stains on your clothing. Many people may try to run their stained clothing in the washer, but--unfortunately--sometimes a simple washing does not take all the stain out, and actually may spread the ChapStick to other parts of your shirt or pants. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Scrape off any excess ChapStick with a credit card. If you leave large chunks of ChapStick on your clothes, it will continue to spread to other spots on your clothing.
-
2
Pre-treat the stain with a pretreatment aerosol stain remover. Leave on for at least 30 minutes.
-
-
3
Rub heavy-duty clothes-washing liquid into the ChapStick and wash in hot or warm water. Check the stain after laundering to see if it is still present.
-
4
If the stain is still present, rub a small amount of Dawn liquid soap directly on the ChapStick stain and leave on at least overnight.
-
5
Place the stained clothing in a warm or hot cycle and wash as usual.
-
6
Remove clothing from washer and inspect the ChapStick stain. If the stain is still there, rub Goo Gone onto the stain. Leave on for at least an hour, then wash again.

Tips & Warnings
Don't place your stained clothing in the dryer until the stain is completely out. Drying stained clothing will set the stain further. Never wash dry-cleanable clothes in the washer. Check with your local dry cleaner before they wash an item stained with ChapStick, and ask them if they can remove it.
