How to Make a Fringed Fleece Scarf
Polar fleece is an excellent choice of fabric to use for making a scarf. The edges of the fleece can be left raw and do not need to be finished. This enables the fast completion of a scarf project. In addition, fleece is extremely warm and soft and will make a cozy scarf that you likely will want to wear often. Choose one color of fleece or several colors, and make a few scarves. Determine the size of your scarf. A shorter scarf may be 36 inches long. A longer scarf may be up to 60 inches long. An average width for a scarf is 5 inches. Cut the fleece to your desired dimensions.

Cut small holes with sharp scissors along both width edges of the fleece. The holes must be no closer than 1/2 inch from the edges. Space the holes evenly along the edges approximately 1/2 inch apart.

Cut the yarn into 12-inch lengths.

Take two strands of yarn together and fold the strands in half lengthwise. Push the strands through a hole with the folded end first, and push it up about 2 inches beyond the hole to form a loop.

Grasp the other ends of the yarn and insert them into the loop. Tighten by pulling on the loose ends.

Repeat steps 4 and 5 to fill all the holes with yarn.
