Polar fleece is an excellent choice of fabric to use for making a scarf. The edges of the fleece can be left raw and do not need to be finished. This enables the fast completion of a scarf project. In addition, fleece is extremely warm and soft, and will make a warm and cozy scarf that you will likely want to wear often. Choose a color of fleece or several colors, and make a few scarves. The technique is easy, and you'll be able to finish a scarf in approximately 30 minutes.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 yards of fleece Worsted weight yarn Scissors Tape measure
  1. Step 1

Determine the size of your scarf. A shorter scarf may be 36 inches long. A longer scarf may be up to 60 inches long. An average width for a scarf is 5 inches. Cut the fleece to your desired dimensions.

  2. Step 2

Cut small holes with sharp scissors along both width edges of the fleece. The holes must be no closer than ½ inch from the edges. Space the holes evenly along the edges approximately ½ inch apart.

  3. Step 3

Cut the yarn into 12-inch lengths.

  4. Step 4

Take two strands of yarn together and fold the strands in half lengthwise. Push the strands through a hole with the folded end first, and push it up about 2 inches beyond the hole to form a loop.

  5. Step 5

Grasp the other ends of the yarn and insert them into the loop. Tighten by pulling on the loose ends.

  6. Step 6

Repeat steps 4 and 5 to fill all the holes with yarn.
