How to Make Your Own Pet Shampoo

  1. Step 1

Add a cup of natural dish soap to an empty bowl. Dish soap will clean your pet's fur and enable you to get a thick lather.

  2. Step 2

Slowly mix in a cup of organic apple cider vinegar. Vinegar has acetic properties that make it excellent for cleaning. By using apple cider vinegar, your shampoo will have a delicious scent.

  3. Step 3

Add a 1/3 cup of glycerin to the bowl. Glycerin is made from the fats and oils of soap products, and it's used in many products such as personal care items like cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

  4. Step 4

Pour a quart of water into the bowl with the dish soap, apple cider vinegar and glycerin. Many shampoos and detergents contain water.

  5. Step 5

Once these four ingredients are mixed, pour them into an old shampoo bottle by using a funnel. Mark it as pet shampoo so you know this batch is specifically for your pets; however, you can also use it on yourself if you happen to run out of shampoo one day.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your pet shampoo and other pet bathing supplies (towel, brush) in one area so you know exactly where they are.
  • Pets can easily jump out of sinks, so always monitor them so they don't jump out or hang themself on their leash.
