Squirrels can be cute when they're running up and down trees or galloping through your yard. When squirrels begin getting into your garage or house or take over a bird feeder you own, however, you may feel that it is time to get rid of these furry creatures. Just because you find squirrels to be obnoxious does not mean that you have to kill them. By making this live squirrel trap, you can catch squirrels and then release them in a place far away from where you live.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin by purchasing a plastic pipe. A piece of PVC pipe that can be purchased at a hardware store will suffice. This pipe should be about 4 to 6 feet in length and have a diameter of 4 to 6 inches.

  2. Step 2

Seal one of the ends of your pipe. To do this, simply glue a piece of wood or plastic on the one end of the pipe. This seal doesn't need to fit perfectly, just good enough that the one hole is completely closed off.

  3. Step 3

Spray the inside of the pipe with any standard cooking spray. Make sure that the inside of the pipe is fully saturated with the spray.

  4. Step 4

Fill the trap with about 1 cup of squirrel bait. You can purchase a squirrel bait either online (see Resources below) or at a lawn and garden center. You can also fill the bottom of the trap with bird seed.

  5. Step 5

Place the trap wherever there are squirrels on your property. You could put the trap at the bottom of a tree or even hang it from a branch if you wish. Be sure that the open end of the trap is facing up so that squirrels can enter the trap with little difficulty.

  6. Step 6

Take the trap away once you notice a squirrel in the trap. Because of the oil on the inside of the pipe and the depth of the pipe, the squirrel will not be able to escape your live trap. Take your trap to an area away from your home and point the open end toward the ground to release the squirrel.
