Step 1
Examine all cable connections and make sure they are firm. If a cable is loose, it may interfere with picture quality or sound.
-
Step 2
Check the position of your antenna. If you don't have cable or satellite service, a misaligned antenna can make the image appear fuzzy or filled with snow. If you have a digital conversion box, use the "Signal Meter" function on the Panasonic's remote control. It will tell you how strong the signal is.
-
Step 3
If the remote isn't working, check to see if the batteries are fresh, and that you are pointing it directly at the set. The remote won't work if the power supply is low, or if a piece of furniture is blocking its line of transmission to the set.
-
Step 4
Push the "TV/Video" button on the remote. Panasonic LCD TVs have a number of different outlets in the back to hook up a number of different devices. If all you're seeing is a black screen, it may be receiving the signal from the wrong outlet, which the TV/Video button will allow you to correct.
-
Step 5
Move the TV away from fluorescent lights or operating electrical products. Such devices can sometimes interfere with the quality of the image.
-
Step 6
Push the "Aspect" button on your remote to correct the ratio. Television shows and movies on DVD are often shown in different ratios. Older movies and shows are broadcast in 4:3 ratio, while widescreen movies and newer shows are often broadcast in 16:9 ratio. If the image looks distorted or cut off, the ratio setting may not be correct. Alternately, if you are watching a movie or show in 4:3 ratio, you'll see a pair of black bars on either side of the LCD screen. This is the correct ratio for the programming, but you can distort it to fill the screen by pushing the "Aspect" button.
-
Step 7
Push "Mute." Set the "SAP" function to "Stereo" or "Mono." Set the "Digital" setting to "Analog." These settings can have an impact on the sound you are receiving.
