How to Make Paper Face Masks

Masks are a way for children to create pretend faces for play and imagination. Whether they make an animal or a completely made up creation, kids love to make masks.
Provide children with an assortment of art materials and some card stock paper and let them go to work making a mask they will happily show everyone they see.
Here are simple guidelines for a paper mask project for children.

Make Paper Face Masks

1. Outline an oval or circle shape on the card stock. The size is not important. It can be larger or smaller than the child's face. You can let the child choose how big or little the mask will be. Whatever size mask the child wants to make will work fine.

2. Cut out the shape.

3. Determine where you want the eyes, mouth and nose. Cut out the holes carefully.

4. Decorate the mask with paints, markers and crayons. Glue any embellishment items onto the mask, like tissue paper, foam shapes, feathers and yarn.

5. Cut a 6 inch piece of elastic and staple it to each side of the mask about halfway up.
