Instructions

    • 1

Open the DVD Shrink program. DVD Shrink can be downloaded for free from several websites (see link below). Please be aware that DVD shrink is freeware, so be cautious of sites asking for payment.

    • 2

Insert the DVD that you want to burn into the drive on your computer.

    • 3

Click once on the "Open Disc" button on the DVD Shrink screen.

    • 4

Select the drive that the DVD is in from the "Open DVD Disc" window, and click once on "OK." DVD Shrink will begin to analyze the DVD, and you can click once on the "Pause" or "Cancel" buttons to interrupt the process.

    • 5

Click once on the "Full Disc" button.

    • 6

Click once on "Main Movie" in the "DVD Structure" section.

    • 7

Review the "Subpicture" section under the "Compression Settings" tab. In the DVD Shrink program, "Subpicture" is the same as "Subtitle." You'll notice in the example, that this particular disc has English, French and Spanish subtitles available.

    • 8

Select the language you want the subtitles to appear in on the DVD by clicking once in the box associated with the language. You'll notice in the example that only English is selected. Check any other sections under the "DVD Structure" section, specifically the "Extras" section, as you will have to repeat this step for each section where there are "Subpicture" options to choose from.

    • 9

Click once on the "Backup" button when you are ready to burn the DVD.

    • 10

Select the "Backup Target" using the drop-down menu in the "Backup DVD" window. Because the intent is to burn the material to a DVD, it is recommended to select the "Hard Disk Folder."

    • 11

Select the "Target Folder" using the drop-down menu in the "Backup DVD" window. DVD Shrink might automatically choose a target folder from a DVD you recently burned. To change the folder, use either the "Browse" button or click on the drop-down folder icon. The selections from the drop-down menu with the folder icon should contain a folder with the new movie.

    • 12

Click once on the "OK" button to begin the backup process.

    • 13

Click once on the "OK" button after the process is finished.

    • 14

Burn the backup files to DVD with your burning software. When you play the movie, you'll notice the subtitles you selected appear at the bottom.
