How to Make Paper Flower Photos
If you teach preschool to third grade or you have young children at home, you are going to love this craft. Flower crafts are quite popular for celebrating the coming of spring. To give your flower crafts even more meaning, you can add photographs to them. Each student can make his or her own paper flower with a photo, and then you can place the class's flower photos up on the bulletin board.

1
Decide which type of flower you want to create. You can look through some gardening magazines to pick one, or you can go with a standard sunflower. The sunflower works well because its stigma (middle of the flower) is large and the perfect size for a photo.
-
2
Pick your colors from colored construction paper. For a sunflower, you'll most likely use some type of white or yellow for the petals. Yellow and brown are common for the inside of the flower, and green is used for the stem and leaves.

3
Cut out your flower parts. Make sure you have enough petals so that they slightly overlap each other. The petals and leaves should be an oval shape. The middle of your flower should be cut in the shape of a circle. Cut a long rectangle for your stem.
-
4
Get your photograph ready. You will need to cut it to be the same size as the circle you cut for the inside of your flower.
-
5
Glue the tips of your petals to the outside of the circle. Make the petals go all the way around the circle. This is easy to do with a glue stick.
-
6
Glue your photograph in the circle.
-
7
Glue the stem underneath the flower, and then add two leaves coming off the stem.
-
8
Wait for the glue to dry. Then hang your paper flower photo up in your house, on the school bulletin board or give it away as a present on Mother's or Father's Day.

Tips & Warnings
Photocopy your picture at an office supply store if you don't want to cut it. Use a color copier, which will give you a paper picture that looks exactly like the original. This usually costs between $.39 and $.79 for one page.
Small children should use age-appropriate scissors. This way, they won't accidentally cut themselves.
