Don't stand for long periods of time to reduce the amount of pressure on your legs. Prolonged standing could cause spider veins. Weight increases because of pregnancy, so standing for long periods of time may put too much pressure on your body frame. This causes strain on the lower part of your body, and over time spider veins may appear.

Wear support hose. If your job requires you to be on your feet, support hose will help decrease the chances of getting spider veins. Some women are given support hose after a c-section delivery. Support hose will help to keep your blood from clotting, which is a major concern after any surgery. Be sure to measure yourself for the correct size, you don't want them to be too tight or too loose. Having the correct size gives the proper amount of support.

Take care of your skin and use a daily moisturizer. Getting a massage frequently during pregnancy to help relax your leg muscles and overall body is also a good idea. It helps to increase blood circulation and blood flow in areas mostly affected by spider veins. Your body and skin could benefit greatly from a regular massage.

Elevate your legs when you are resting. This helps to prevent further swelling and inflammation in the legs, reducing the chances of the appearance of spider veins.
