There are numerous definitions for "recession" and "depression", but a widely-acknowledged explanation goes like this, "A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose yours."

So, whether it is a recession or a depression, there are a lot of people in trouble. You need to make sure that you prepare now, just in case things start to get any worse.

  1. Step 1

One of the reasons we are in this position, and a primary reason people get into trouble is credit card debt. Credit card debt, if paid monthly at the minimum payment, will never go away. You have to pay more the minimum every month. And, stop using the credit cards!

  2. Step 2

No matter how much you make, you need to put something aside every month. Whether it is $5 or $500, make sure you save something.

  3. Step 3

Stop spending money like it grows on trees! When times are tough, you need to tighten your belt, and you can't do that by buying a $4 cup of coffee every morning.

  4. Step 4

Keep searching for passive or residual income to supplement your salary even if you are doing good in your real job. Income supplement can save you a lot of money every month for free and when things gets tough then you are prepared.

  5. Step 5

Follow the ants lifestyle in living to be stress free during the economic crisis. Save more cash or invest more when you are not in bad financial situation. It is like saving for rainy days ahead.
