Typically, if you are planning a Firefighter themed wedding the Bride or Groom is a Firefighter. In my case my husband and I are both Firefighters. It is up to the individual on how involved you want the Firefighter theme to influence the wedding. We chose to be conservative and yet tasteful. The photographers usually love this because it allows them to take unique pictures.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • permission from the Fire Department if you plan on using Fire Apparatus
  • Decorations themed appropiately
  1. Step 1

You should start your planning at minimum 6 months to 1 year ahead of the Wedding date. If you plan on using Fire Engines in the pictures or as part of the ceremony, contact the Fire Department and explain exactly what you're expecting from them. Some people have performed ceremonies in the bucket of a Ladder truck. Keep in mind, guests on the ground will not be able to see or hear you well. You can have photos taken with the Fire Engines. If you plan on having the Firetrucks present during the ceremony, choose a location large enough to hold the Firetrucks.

  2. Step 2

Use the internet as a resource for themed items for Decorations. Invitations, cake toppers, plastic fire helmets etc.

  3. Step 3

Get creative ideas to add for table decorations. Plastic fire helmets as a centerpiece. It can either sit upright or a hole cut in the center to allow flowers to come through. Use candy firetrucks or helmets as favors, these are great to replace the traditional wedding candy.

  4. Step 4

If the Fire Department has a color guard or Bag pipes, they could be staged during the ceremony.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in mind the Fire Department may keep this equipment in service and available for calls even during the ceremony. This can cause an unexpected exit of your backround or props.
  • keep a spare rag on hand if you plan on having the Bride on or near the Firetruck, grease may get on her wedding gown.
  • You want your wedding to be a day to remember, so keep the Firefighter influence tactful yet elegant
