How to Make Beaded Tie Backs
Beaded tie backs can help you update old curtains, give your room an innovative look and add sparkle and pizzazz to a room. Making a beaded tie back for your curtains is no more difficult than stringing a beaded necklace. Use this simple jewelry making technique to create a new stylish look for your home.
Things You'll Need
- 16 to 18 inches of 18-gauge brass wire
- Beads, enough to cover 14 inches of wire
- Wire cutters
- Round nose pliers
- File
Instructions

1
Select your beads and arrange a design.
-
2
Measure around your curtains to see the best length of wire needed to achieve the drape you want -- typically, 16 or 18 inches works. Cut the wire. Make a loop at one end of your beading wire.
-
-
3
Feed on the remaining beads in the order of your chosen pattern.
-
4
Test the length of your tie back once all the beads are strung. Make another small loop at the other end of the wire. Pull the wire over your finger to create a hook. File both ends smooth.
-
5
Form the wire into a nice round circle so it looks like a necklace with a hook and eye clasp. Wrap the beaded wire around your curtains and latch.
