Things You'll Need:
- 1 Bottle Simple Green
- 1 Roll Aluminum Foil
- 1 Regular Garden Hose
-
Step 1
Park your vehicle so the front faces the sun
-
Step 2
Open your hood
-
Step 3
Cover the fuse box with aluminum foil, try to wrap the foil around the box as much as possible
-
Step 4
Cover the distributor with aluminum foil (where all your spark plug wires come together)
-
Step 5
Cover the coil with aluminum foil (one wire should lead from your distributor to your coil)
-
Step 6
Cover the carburetor with aluminum foil (if your engine is EFI don't worry about it)
-
Step 7
Now it is time to use Simple Green. Make sure the bottle is on the "Spray" setting and not "Stream"
-
Step 8
Spray your entire engine compartment down thoroughly everywhere using up about half a bottle of Simple Green (full bottle for really dirty engines)
-
Step 9
Make sure you get the firewall and fenders (they clean up real nice)
-
Step 10
Let sit for 10 minutes (Simple Green is a degrease and takes some time to eat through the grease)
-
Step 11
Turn on your garden hose
-
Step 12
Wash off your engine (do not use a pressurized spray nozzle)
-
Step 13
Leave your hood open until engine is dry (approximately 2 hours)
-
Step 14
Admire your really clean engine
