Instructions

    • 1
      MS Publisher

Open MS Publisher (I'm using the 2007 version)

    • 2
      Invitation Card Choices

In the task pane on the left, click on Invitation Cards. Microsoft Office Online Templates link appears. Click on View templates from Microsoft Office Online.

    • 3
      Wedding Invitation Templates

      Click on Wedding Invitations.

    • 4
      Renaissance Template

From the Wedding Invitations, choose your favorite. For this illustration, I'm using "Renaissance." A template will appear indicating what information to include on your invitation. Type in the proper information (bride's parents, bride, groom, etc.).

    • 5
      Choose Color Scheme

On the Format Publication pane on the left, choose a color scheme that compliments your wedding colors. I used "cranberry," but there are many others just as nice.

    • 6
      Letter Booklet Size

On the Format Publication pane on the left, choose Publication Options, then click on Change Page Size, and a Page Set Up window will open. Scroll down to Booklets and choose 1/2 Letter Booklet - 5.5 x 8.5". This will allow you to print two invitations on one piece of paper oriented as Landscape.

Save your publication to your hard drive. You need to make a choice now whether you want to do the printing and cutting, or whether you want to take the invitation card you've created to an office store such as Staples.

    • 8
      Cover Stock Paper

If you decide to print the invitations yourself, load the paper in your printer (I've suggested using either 25% Cotton Paper or White Cover Stock, which is twice as heavy), and go to work. You'll either need to set up your printer to print 2 copies on a page, or you'll need to feed the paper through twice. Once you've printed two invitations on the page, use a paper cutter to complete the task.

If you decide to have an office store print and cut the invitations for you, copy your publication onto a writable CD or flash drive so it's easy to transport. Either way, you'll love the results and save lots of money!

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have to resize or move the template to properly fit it to the 5.5 x 8.5" size, click on Edit/Select All, then use your arrow keys or stretch it with the cursor

  • FedEx Office offers printing services online - no need to even take your CD or flash drive there physically

  • Be sure to save your work frequently to avoid losing anything

  • Do a test print on regular paper to ensure that you don't need to make any adjustments before using the more expensive paper
