Start by going to a site that recommends both good and bad survey companies. I recommend Survey Police for that. http://www.surveypolice.com/ Research which companies pay well, and which ones are not legitimate. They have an entire list, plus links to sign up for the right ones.

Sign up for as many companies as you can. The more companies you are with, the more surveys you will receive. I highly recommend these companies as the best paying for me: Global Test Market, Pinecone, Survey Spot, Survey Savvy, Mindfield, Harris Poll, Lightspeed, NFO My Survey, Testspin, Viewpoint, etc.. There are hundreds out there that ARE legitimate. You make money, and test products for them. Make sure you have time to sign up. It takes a while, especially if you are signing up for a bunch. You have to fill out your demographic info, and then confirm your email to get in. Make sure to fill out all of your profiles. The more they know about you, the better surveys will be tailored to you. Don't despair if you get disqualified from some surveys. It happens to us all. Patience is the key.

Keep well organized records. When I started, I used a notebook. Now I use a spreadsheet program on my computer. When completing a survey, write down the date, company it was for, amount and type of payment, and date payment was received. If for some reason payment does not come, you will have a record. I also HIGHLY recommend you create a "survey" folder in your email, so when you complete a survey, you save the original invite. These companies like proof you took it, and when, so if payment is missing, you can forward the original email.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful on what companies you sign up for.

  • Organization will get you far

  • Once you have done it for a while, you will be able to weed out the scam surveys from the legitimate ones.

  • Point and sweepstakes surveys are ok, but do the paying ones first. Only do those if you have time, or are bored. Points add up, but slowly.

  • Use a Yahoo account for ONLY surveys. That way, your real email account doesnt get junked up.

  • Download Roboform at http://www.roboform.com It instantly fills in forms for you. In the survey world, this is key.

  • If its too good to be true, 99% chance, it is

  • NEVER pay to do surveys. Don't pay a comapny to find surveys for you. There are plenty surveys out there that are FREE to do, and the company will email them to you.

I have never made a dime off of surveys, but I guess I picked the wrong ones or wasn't trying hard enough. Thanks for the info!
