Things You'll Need:
- Yarn or tapestry needle
- yarn
- dental floss
-
Step 1
Threading bumpy yarn or frayed yarn is very frustratingDoing this will save a lot of frustration and frayed yarn... You will always want to use this method if you are using heavy yarn, roving yarn, or yarn of varied textures. All you must do is take a small piece of dental floss, and loop it around your yarn.
-
Step 2
Most yarn is so thick that it is very difficult to thread itNow, fold the yarn over the dental floss and thread both ends of the floss through the tapestry needle. Pull both of the ends of the dental floss with the yarn attached all the way through the tapestry needle. Then pull the yarn all the way through the eye of the tapestry needle, and dispose of the dental floss.
-
Step 3
Threading a tapestry needle with yarn is easy as 1-2-3!This will keep your yarn from fraying, which is the main reason it is so hard to thread on a tapestry needle. You are now ready to seam and finish your knitted or crochet piece, or to do a little decorative stitching on it!
