Things You'll Need:

Step 1
The material you need for your dress = double length plus 4" -5" and shiny satin ribbon - approx. 5 - 6 yard. The best material is crinkled cotton gauze- solid color or with border. You can also use silk, rayon, staple - soft, non stretchy fabric. Fold material in half crosswise and cut for 2 pieces. Fold one piece lengthwise and cut in 2 pieces. You will have 3 rectangular pieces of fabric.
-
Step 2
Take the larger piece of fabric , fold it lengthwise and put on the table with fold on the right and edges on the left. From the top upper corner (fold) make a mark 1 1/4" down. Make the 2nd mark in 2 3/4" (left) from the upper right corner. Connect 2 marks with smooth rounded line. Cut the fabric along this line. Unfold the fabric. This is the back of your dress.
-
Step 3
Put together (Wrong side out) 2 smaller rectangular pieces. The cut side on the right and edges on the left. From right upper corner measure down 8" -10" depending how deep you want to have your V-neckline. From the same corner mark 2 3/4" left. Connect 2 marks with straight line and cut triangle off. Put 2 pieces of fabric on the table
with the triangle cut on the center. This is the front of your dress. -
Step 4
Gather fabric at the shoulder line for front and back. You can gather it slightly for dropped shoulder line or heavier to keep your shoulders more open. Secure gathering. Connect front and back at the shoulder lines and make seams.
-
Step 5
From the open middle of one of the front pieces and around the neckline finish with double seam using satin ribbon. Fold 1/4" of fabric to the right side, put a ribbon's edge along with the fold and seam on the top of the ribbon. Make the second seam along the opposite edge of the ribbon.
-
Step 6
Make side seams, leaving arm holes. Cut the rest of the ribbon in half, put 2 parts together with wrong side out. Put 2 front parts of your dress together (wrong side out). Insert double ribbon from inside
between 2 front parts right below the end of V-neckline. The ends of the ribbon should face down at 45 degrees. Make the center seam connecting 2 front parts with a double ribbon between them. Finish a bottom hem.
Turn your dress right side out. Put it on. Wrap ribbon around your waist
crossing it on the back and tie it at the front. You will look gorgeous.
