Keep Motivated With Your Workout

It's difficult to stay motivated with a workout, especially when results aren't visible instantly. These are some ways to stay motivated with workouts and ways to switch up the routine to make it less mundane.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Take measurements. Visible results are hard to see in the mirror after a short time, but with measurements the results usually show up after a few days. Even if they are small amounts of improvement. Write down measurements for different body parts you want to improve and track progress every time you workout.

  2. Step 2

Write out a workout before you begin. If you set goals for yourself such as certain lifts, how many reps, sets, or miles you want to get to then there's something visible to work towards. Start out simple and write down a few exercises or running distance that you can remember and as you get better at remembering your workouts, add to them.

  3. Step 3

Keep a record of how long you work out. When you can see the time spent doing something there is a pride in accomplishment. Try to finish a workout in a certain amount of time and then improve your time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Having a chart to show your progress helps. Try putting your results on a spreadsheet and checking them often.
  • An easy way to measure body parts without a flexible measuring tape is with string. Mark the string and then measure the string to the mark.
  • Workouts should never be too strenuous or uncomfortable. Never over-exert yourself to a dangerous level.
