Things You'll Need:
- saucepan
- 1/2 cup of plain flour
- 2 cups cold water
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups boiling water
- newspaper
- Balloon
-
Step 1
To make paper mache paste, pour 1/2 cup of plain flour into a saucepan containing 2 cups cold water. put your pan on the burner of your stove and add 2 cups of boiling water. bring to a boil while stirring consistanly. Take the pan off the heat, stir in 3 tablespoons of sugar and allow the paste to cool.
-
Step 2
Cover the area you are going to work on with newspaper, this project can be very messy.
-
Step 3
a balloon makes an excellent mold for a bowl. so blow up a balloon and tie it shut at the neck
-
Step 4
Tear off narrow strips of newspaper about 8 inches long and dip them into the paste. Run your fingers down the strips to get rid of any excess paste and then drape them over your balloon. Smooth the strips down to get rid of any lumps and bumps. Repeat this until the bottom half of the balloon is covered.
-
Step 5
Allow this layer of strips to dry before you add another layer on top. Add several layers of paper and paste to the balloon, letting each layer dry first.
-
Step 6
When the newspaper has dried completely, you can pop the balloon and peel it away from the newspaper.
-
Step 7
Use a pair of scissors to cut a smooth edge for your bowl. Then decorate it with paint and glitter.
