Homemade vanilla ice cream sounds really good. Maybe you've had your machine for a while now and have lost the instructions...Or maybe you found one at a yard sale or flea market and are looking for a good recipe...Well look no further. Here is my version of Vanilla Ice Cream...

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cuisinart ICE-20 Ice Cream maker
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Medium size mixing bowl
  • wire whisk
  1. Step 1

Freeze Ice Cream maker bowl for 24 hours or until liquid inside doesn't slosh around. For any time ice cream storing bowl in freezer keeps it always ready to go.

  2. Step 2

In Medium mixing bowl pour cold milk and cream. Add sugar and vanilla and mix until sugar is dissolved.

  3. Step 3

Remove freeze bowl from freezer and assemble on machine base. Place mixing arm inside bowl and carefully pour ice cream batter into bowl. Place cover on top and turn on

  4. Step 4

Allow Cuisinart to mix for 15-25 minutes or until ice cream reaches the consistency of soft soft serve. Turn off mixer and remove ice cream from bowl. Place ice cream in bowl or dish and cover with lid or aluminum foil. Freeze for approx 2 hours to harden and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • 8 oz whipped cream containers are large enough to hold one making of ice cream.
  • Makes enough ice cream for 5-6 small servings. (1/2 quart)
  • During final 5 minutes of mixing berries or chopped fruit may be added.
  • Wash bowl quickly under hot water, dry with lint free towel and place back inside freezer
  • May experiment with milk-cream ratio to create lower fat recipes.
  • For a quick chocolate treat try one box (4oz) instant chocolate pudding and 2 cups whole milk. My kids LOVE this.
  • Not a low calorie food.
  • May cause an increase in demand for ice cream.
  • If ice cream does not freeze within 25 minutes try again using cold ingredients. I store a can of sugar as well as a bottle of vanilla in the fridge and set the mixing bowl and whisk in the freezer for 1/2 hour before I make the ice cream. It keeps everything COLD.
