Clean a Computer Monitor LCD

This article will show you several ways to correctly clean your LCD screen on your desktop computer, laptop or television.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lint-Free Cloth
  • Micro fiber cloth like the one you would use to clean eyeglasses.
  • Water (preferably distilled)
  • Screen wipes
  1. Step 1

The first step is to turn off your monitor.

If the screen is moderately dirty, use the micro fiber cloth (for eyeglasses) and lightly wipe the screen. Do not press hard. This cloth is great because it is gentle enough not to scratch the monitor but efficient enough to clean dust and oil.

  3. Step 3

If you have hard to remove stains that are not coming off easily with the micro fiber cloth, then us the lint-free cloth and dampen it in distilled water. Then, gently wipe the screen again. This should remove any stubborn stains.

Another way you can clean your LCD screen is with screen wipes. Several electronic stores sell different brands. These work great and are safe to use on LCD monitors, TV monitors, cell phone screen and other electronics.

    Some recommended brands:
    - Weiman E-tronics Wipes
    - Office Max LCD Cleaning Kit

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid using other types of paper (toilet paper, tissue paper, paper towels, etc.)
  • Do not use harsh chemicals.
