Attract birds to your yard with this easy craft project

Spring is here! Attract beautiful birds to your yard with a bird feeder. This project is simple, and low cost. You don't need to buy an expensive bird feeder. You can make a natural alternative with the pine cones in your yard.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pine Cones
  • Suet Recipe
  • String
  1. Step 1

Gather a few pine cones from your yard. Larger pine cones work better because they can hold more food. If you do not have pine cones in your yard, you can buy them at a craft store. Just make sure that the ones you buy at the store are not painted or covered in potpourri.

  2. Step 2

Pick the location to place your bird feeders. If you decide to hang them from a tree or a hook, you will need to tie some string around the top of the pine cone. Or you can place them in the crook of a tree and no string is necessary. I think it is easier to hang the cone first, then put the food in.

  3. Step 3

Make a suet mixture. There are many suit recipes available online. Most include mixing fat and bird seed into a messy goop. Then you smush the suet into the pine cone crevices. This step is messy, so you might want to do it outside.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is a great craft for kids.
  • Don't place the pine cone where it will get hot and drip on stuff you like.
