Things You'll Need:
- Drivers License Number, Vehicle Registration, Insurance Policy Number, and a full description including time & place of accident. Of course, your Insurance Company's Phone number.
-
Step 1
No matter how safely we drive, you may find yourself in an unfortunate position of being involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident. Things happen, as long as you have Insurance Coverage you have nothing to worry about. That is why American's have Insurance, for those unexpected mishaps.
-
Step 2
First, if you are involved in an accident try not to panic, it only makes things worse. Secondly, try to find a Policeman that will come to the scene and write up an accident report. If you are involved in an "hit & run" try and write down the License number of the other vehicle. It is very easy to locate the other party if you have an accurate License Plate Number.
-
Step 3
As soon as you arrive home, gather all your insurance information together and call your Insurance Claims Department. Many Claims Departments are available 24 hours a day. Make sure you give the Claims Specialist a complete and accurate description of the incident. Never tell the Claims Person more than you have to. Remember, no matter how nice the Claims Person seems on the phone, they are not looking out for your best interest, they are looking out for the company's best interest. Insurance Companies are notorious for trying to get out of paying certain claims. However, if a customer is late with a payment they will have no hesitation about cancelling your policy.
