Instructions

    • 1

Open doors and windows as the weather permits.

    • 2

Mix 1 cup of ammonia with 1 gallon of water in a bucket. Dip a rag in the solution and clean all hard surfaces.

    • 3

Sprinkle a generous layer of baking soda over all carpeted areas. Let it sit overnight and vacuum it up.

    • 4

Fill a spray bottle with 1 cup of white vinegar and 2 cups of water. Mist all curtains and washable surfaces with it.

    • 5

Replace heating and air conditioning filters. It's possible that cigarette smoke particulates got trapped in the filter and will emit an odor.

    • 6

Replace all light bulbs. Nicotine can settle on the bulb and, when it heats up, it will release the cigarette odor.

    • 7

Place a couple of small bowls filled with either baking soda or vinegar in different areas around the room. Both ingredients will absorb any remaining odors.
