A coffee press, also called a french press, makes a rich and frothy cup of coffee. A coffee press is also easy to use and clean. Learn how to make the best cup of coffee using a coffee press.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coffee Press
  • Coffee Beans
  • Grinder
  • Boiling Water
  1. Step 1

First, get your water boiling. Use the microwave or stove top to boil as many cups of water as you want coffee. Use filtered water for the very best taste.

  2. Step 2

Grind your coffee beans. Freshly ground beans will make the freshest cup of coffee. The grinds for a coffee press should be coarsely ground. Use about 1TB ground coffee for each cup of coffee you are making and scoop it into the coffee press glass beaker.

  3. Step 3

Once your water has come to a boil, pour it over the grounds making sure to saturate all of the grounds completely. A frothy foam will develop at the top and the grounds will also rise to the top.

  4. Step 4

Using a wooden or plastic spoon, (I use a chop stick) stir your grounds for about 20 seconds. Next put the lid on and let the coffee steep for 4-5 minutes. If you prefer stronger coffee, let it steep up to 10 minutes.

  5. Step 5

After your coffee is done steeping, slowly press the plunger handle down. This will press the coffee grounds down and trap them beneath the strainer.

  6. Step 6

Holding the lid down, pour your cup of coffee, serve and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to clean your coffee press after each use for the best tasting coffee.
  • The glass beaker that comes with your coffee press is delicate. Take extra care when stirring your coffee and cleaning your coffee press.
