Speed Scrabble is an easy game for both adults and children to play. It is compact and so is a great game to travel with.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • one set of Scrabble letter tiles
  1. Step 1

You will need a flat surface to play this game.

Turn over all the letter tiles so the letters are not visible.

  2. Step 2

Each player chooses seven tiles but does not turn them over until all players are ready.

  3. Step 3

Letters are used to make connecting words like a crossword puzzle. As soon as someone uses all their letters they call out 'Take two!' and each player takes two more tiles.

  4. Step 4

Each time a player uses all their letters they call out 'Take two!' and players take two more tiles, continuing this way until all the tiles are gone. If at any point none of the players can use all their tiles there can be a free 'Take two!' round.

  5. Step 5

Letters can be moved to make different words as players acquire different letters. The first person to use all their letters once all the tiles have been distributed among the players is the winner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Decide beforehand whether you will follow standard Scrabble rules
  • The winner should read out the words they came up with to ensure all are spelled correctly and are allowable words.
  • For more than 4 players consider using two sets of tiles.
