Things You'll Need:
- Pattern
- Scissors
- Clear contact paper
-
Step 1
Find a sewing pattern that you know you will be using several times. Cut out all of the pieces for the item you will be making. Cut out the pieces on the lines.
-
Step 2
Cut a piece of contact paper that is 1/4 of the size of your pattern piece. You will have to work with a little bit at a time. This paper, serving as laminating sheets, will be permanent once it is applied. You want to work slowly on a clean surface.
-
Step 3
Take the paper backing off of the contact paper. Place on your working surface non sticky side down. Since the paper comes in a long roll, it will be curled up until you take the backing off.
-
Step 4
Take your pattern piece and place on the contact paper while holding it taut. Place it down very gently. Once it is on the paper, take a spatula and smooth it on the paper to get the wrinkles out. As the pattern paper is very flimsy and weak, it will be next to impossible to get all of the wrinkles out. That is okay as long as the whole piece is flat under the contact paper.
-
Step 5
Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 until your whole pattern piece is covered front and back. Your pattern is now safe from all rips or damage forever.
